Challenge Park
a team-building area inside camp, which is used by the campers, under the supervision of trained leaders and the madrichim

China Town
a numberf of typically Chinese style pagoda-like houses next to the Kupola; three houses surround a smaller, roofed area (called a pit), that are also suitable for activities

Climbing Wall
a set of 2, artificially constructed walls with grips for hands and feet; can be used only under the supervision of trained leaders

Galil
the 11-13 years age group of campers

Golan
the 14-16 years age group of campers

Hermon
the eldest, 17-18 years age group of campers

Imaterem
(“praying hall”) the huge hall next to the dining room, which is, in spite of its name, used primarily for group programs, such as hora (dance) classes

Club
the two smaller rooms at the back of the camp, next to Art

Unithead
the staff member who is responsible for the leader of the madrichim of an age group (unit); acts as a supervisor and guide for them

Kupola
(literally means “dome”) the air-conditioned sports hall of the camp, that is, thanks to its size, used for all huge, camp-wide events as well

Learning Center
a room in Beit David that was named after the toys and games that were found in it, as well as for the activities that are held there. With the help of special games, the campers can learn about Judaism from one another in a unique way

Madrich
trained group leader, a group consisting of a number of chanichim (particpants) is usually lead by two madrichs together

Madrich Time
a group activity, lead by the madrichim (group leaders); the emphasis during these activities is mainly on having fun together and team building

Makkabiad/Makkabia
the huge sports competition of the whole camp, Olympics of the camp

Mifi
group wake-up time between morning wake-up and Mifkad – a light game

Mifgás/im
(“meeting/s”) groups coming from different countries who participate in an activity together in order to get closer to each other’s culture

Mifkad
morning get-together for the whole camp to start the camp day

Negev
the youngest, 7-10 years age group of campers

Peula
a colourful, interactive activity about the actual theme/topic of the camp lead, by the group leaders, the madrichim

Pardes
a series of activities, built on the model of the peula; its topic is chosen by the campers from a number of given options

Project
a series of sessions, covering about 20-25 different actvitiy options that are chosen by the elder campers at the beginning of the session. The topics range from newspaper writing to film making to various dances, drumming or street art

Szarvas Times
the camp’s own magazine, published usually twice during a session, its writers being a group of the campers
